How do I change the excerpt of a point using Hypothesis?

I was told to edit point 330987 and I could not figure out how to change the excerpt to include “We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time without notice to you”.

When I selected text and clicked on “Annotate”, it wanted me to create a new point. When I clicked the pencil icon on the point, it would not let me change the excerpt, only the case from a dropdown; it doesn’t matter if I selected text or not.

This issue has been around for more than 3 years and was mentioned by @Deveroonie in the ToS;DR Discord server. Discussions about changing point excerpts on GitHub (2023-01-22) and this forum (2021-02-03) predate the introduction of Hypothesis in Phoenix (2023-05-18), so I might be the first to ask for help on this issue.

Consider turning off Hypothesis only for changing excerpts?

We’re aware of this issue, but progress is slow due to some technical issues not even I am aware of. @ptgms and @evan (the latter is in vacation for the remainder of August) should know better.

Yes, this is still a bug, I understand the staff are aware of it, the devs are just busy so they haven’t gotten around to fixing it. @Dr_Jeff let me know if I’m wrong.

@JazzedPineda For now the only solution is to decline the Point and start again. I know it’s annoying, but it’s the only way for now.
