Welcome, New Curator!
Thank you for contributing to our site! Feel free to introduce yourself as you please. Make yourself comfortable, inform yourself about how to review better on Phoenix, and be friendly with your fellow Curators!
Resources
You are a Curator, so you can now review user Points on Phoenix. Please make sure to read our docs at docs.tosdr.org to understand your responsibilities:
- ToS;DR Community Etiquette
- Phoenix For Beginners
- What is a Curator?
- How are classifications calculated?
Curator Guidelines
- Be impartial! We review based solely on the contents of a service’s policies. If it isn’t included in the service’s policies, it’s not valid. (NOTE: There are a couple of Cases semi-exempt from this)
- If not sure about a given Point, avoid reviewing it. Inform yourself, ask for second opinions —like in the Forum or on our Discord— and observe already approved Points for reference, and then you should make your review.
- Please be careful with DocBot points. Declining them will teach future versions of DocBot to avoid similar quotes, so only do so if it is outright incorrect.
- When reviewing a Point, make sure there are no approved Points with either conflicting or duplicate Cases.
- Decline spam Points and report them to Staff if the spammer hasn’t been suspended yet.
Prohibited Behavior
You must be responsible with your reviewing. As such, you’re expected not to abuse your position in the ToS;DR Community UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
The following are some examples of abusive behavior, plus how Staff would normally react (though this is handled in a case-by-case basis):
- Repeatedly declining/approving Points without giving concrete reasons (WARNING, WILL BE DEMOTED IF PERSISTING AFTER WARNING)
- Declining already approved Points with the intent to replace them with your own (WARNING, WILL BE SUSPENDED IF WARNING IS IGNORED)
- Using your Curator position to review an alternate account of yours (ACCOUNT DELETION, OTHER MEASURES TO AVOID MULTIPLE ACCS)
- Approving spam Points knowingly and repeatedly, without correcting the damage afterwards (SUSPENSION)
- Not disclosing any conflict of interest when reviewing a service’s Points (WARNING, DEMOTION IF SEVERE ENOUGH)
- Only approving certain pending Points to get a Service to a certain Rating (DEMOTION, ACCOUNT DELETION IF SEVERE ENOUGH)
- Posting Hate Speech or threatening, pornographic, illegal, violent, politically charged, discriminating, or demeaning content (ACCOUNT DELETION)
Conclusion
If at any point you have doubts with certain Points, feel free to use this topic to ask.
Happy reviewing!
