Temporarily auto-approving points made by trusted Staff members

Announcement For Phoenix Users

TL;DR

Due to a lack of availability of Curators and Staff members to review all pending Points on Phoenix (~5000 before this change having taken place), we will temporarily auto-approve all points made by reputable and trusted Staff members (in the last 60 days). This auto-approval will take 7 days to wait for any objections per Point. If no objection is made during that period, the point will be auto-approved.

This measure is temporary!

If there’s any suggestions or feedback, please contact us through our Discord or by sending an email to team@tosdr.org.

Thanks for your attention!

Introduction

We, the ToS;DR Team, are announcing that we’re taking a set of temporary measures on Phoenix to address the current volume of Points that are pending approval.

The Issue

Every time a user makes a Point on Phoenix (arbitrary example: Point 14755), said point is marked as pending for review. Only Staff and Curators can approve other users’ points, so to function properly we need at least two Staff/Curators active on Phoenix to approve/decline any point.
Normally no user, not even a Staff member, can approve their own Points. Phoenix is not designed that way.

That being said, for the past few months the amount of consistently active Curators/Staff involved with reviewing has fallen significantly down to ONE. Sometimes another one might connect, review a couple of points, then go silent again. This is nobody’s fault, as reviewing on Phoenix voluntary. People have jobs, family, and/or other things to attend to.

Nevertheless, there’s a backlog of ~5000 human-made Points pending approval which were made by a single trusted Staff member, so there’s barely anybody to review these.

The Solution

NOTE: As of May the 18th, 2026, this has been implemented.

The solution is as follows:

If a point was made by a trusted Staff member within the last 60 days, it will have a 7-day period of “standby”, in which Curators and Staff may review it for any objections or changes being requested. If that period ends, and no objections were made by others during that period, the point in question will be auto-approved.

NOTE: The auto-approved point is no different than other points, and can be declined and/or re-reviewed at any time.
