Hello,
I am reopening a previous discussion "Some strange evaluations: WhatsApp, Telegram, Element, Signal" since I missed the follow up and the link reported by the staff is broken. The previous points are still valid:
Can you explain why WhatsApp and Telegram has the same C rating? On the former there are 6 negatives points while on the latter only 1 negative point and made by a suspended user.
Following the first question. Both Element and Signal have B rating, but they have 7 and 3 negative points respectively.
I am not an expert, certainly not all points are equal, but after reading the various reviews, I think there is an error in the evaluation.
Thank you
We have recently re-reviewed many ToS (they were outdated). This required to purge some old points we had, and replace them with new points.
Points made by users have to be approved by Staff/Curators before taking effect (a Curator/Staff member can’t approve their own). This affects the rating as we only grade based on the approved points on Phoenix.
Recently I reviewed WhatsApp after updating its policies. Please take into account that many of my points are still pending for review (as of writing).
If a user is suspended we only decline the points that aren’t valid and/or are the reason for the suspension. Unless asked by said user, we currently don’t decline their valid points. I think that specific user deleted their account some time ago, which shows as “suspended”.
Currently we’re having issues with pulling the Telegram policies to our system (and many many others), greatly limiting our ability to review.
You can find out how our rating system works here. If you have any complaints and/or feedback we’re happy to hear them.
If there’s anything I didn’t answer please let me know. I’ll talk with the other Staff members about your concens.
